Фольклор долган. - 2000. (Т. 19.)

Such songs do not spread widely and exist only in the repertoire of a separate singer only. This is a tradition of song’s creativity of the majority of the Northern and Far Eastern peoples. As a rule, translations of such songs do not possess original independent poetic meaning, but only reproduce their content, as many songs-improvisations are not characterised by a strict rhythmical organisation. Compilers and editors of this volume did their best, however, preserving maximum closeness to the original to find out for the Dolganian songs adequate poetic expressions in the Russian language. The present volume ready for publication and investigating the best samples of the folklore of the Dolgans will not only preserve them for the future generations and world culture, but also will become a distinctive monument o f the scientists-devotees labour of A.A.Popov, Ye.I.Ubryatova, P.E.Yefremov whose life mission was to study a way of life, language and folklore of this nation. The scientific preparation of this volume for the publication in the series "Folklore Monuments of the Peoples of Siberia and the Far East" has been accomplished by the joint e fforts of th e Russian, Yakut, Buriat folklore and ethnic musicology specialists, philologists, ethnographers in the Institute of Philology of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
